چکیده

A single period inventory model, also popularly known as the Newsboy or Christmas tree problem, is to decide the quantity of a single product to be manufactured or purchased for a single period such that the quantity maximizes (minimizes) the expected profit (cost) under stochastic demand. The earliest works in this area were those by Hadley and Whittin (1963) and Hodges and Moore (1970). The later authors solved the product-mix problem with stochastic demand competing for a number of limited resources. Among the many extensions to the classical single period inventory problems developed after the 80’s, the optimization techniques to solve multiproduct, multi-constraint single period inventory problem are of relevance to the present work. Khouja (1999) in his review paper has classified the above extensions into eleven categories. To these, one can add another category, namely the application of techniques like marginal analysis [Hodges and Moore (1970)], Lagrange multipliers [Karmarkar (1981), and [Lau and Lau (1995), etc.], heuristics [Nahmias and Schmidt (1984), etc.], and analytical solution procedures [BenDaya and Raouf (1993), etc.] to solve the constrained newsboy problem.

A parameter-tuned genetic algorithm for vendor managed inventory model for a case single-vendor single-retailer with multi-product and multi-constraint

This paper develops a single-vendor single-retailer supply chain for multi-product. The proposed model is based on Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) approach and vendor uses the retailer's data for better decision making. Number of orders and available capital are the constraints of the model. In this system, shortages are backordered; therefore, the vendor’s warehouse capacity is another limitati...

Multi-item inventory model with probabilistic demand function under permissible delay in payment and fuzzy-stochastic budget constraint: A signomial geometric programming method

This study proposes a new multi-item inventory model with hybrid cost parameters under a fuzzy-stochastic constraint and permissible delay in payment. The price and marketing expenditure dependent stochastic demand and the demand dependent the unit production cost are considered. Shortages are allowed and partially backordered. The main objective of this paper is to determine selling price, mar...

Solving a New Multi-objective Inventory-Routing Problem by a Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm

This paper considers a multi-period, multi-product inventory-routing problem in a two-level supply chain consisting of a distributor and a set of customers. This problem is modeled with the aim of minimizing bi-objectives, namely the total system cost (including startup, distribution and maintenance costs) and risk-based transportation. Products are delivered to customers by some heterogeneous ...

A multi-product, multi-period model to select supplier for deteriorating products while considering uncertainty as well as backorder

Determining supplier and optimum order of the quantity is an issue of great importance in logistics management for many companies. In this regard, it is crucial to determine the best decisions for the order quantity as well as the most suitable supplier through considering existing limitations and uncertainties. To optimize a multi-product, multi-period model with select supplier for deteriorat...

A Three-Echelon Multi-Objective Multi-Period Multi-Product Supply Chain Network Design Problem: A Goal Programming Approach

In this paper, a multi-objective multi-period multi-product supply chain network design problem is introduced. This problem is modeled using a multi-objective mixed integer mathematical programming. The objectives are maximizing the total profit of logistics, maximizing service level, and minimizing inconsistency of operations. Several sets of constraints are considered to handle the real situa...
